Time to Talk! at the Global Child Forum 2018

Time to Talk!-Team and a children delegation at the Global Child Forum 2018

The Swedish royal couple King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia invited the Time to Talk!-Team to the “10th Global Child Forum” which takes place this week on 11th April 2018 in the Royal palace in Stockholm. Two children´s delegates from Indonesia will talk about their situation as working children in front of international companies and business leaders.

The Global Child Forum is a Swedish foundation committed to promoting children’s rights around the world, focusing primarily on the role of business to be motivated to take children’s rights more into account in their decisions so as to contribute to a fair and sustainable world for children.

For the first time children will participate at the Global Child Forum. As an initiative of Kindernothilfe two children who were part of the “It´s Time to Talk!”- project will participate at the Global Child Forum in Stockholm. They were one out of five children´s delegations from Indonesia, India, Guatemala, Nepal und Syria who sent their applications for a participation to Kindernothilfe and shared their motivations to represent the working children at the Forum. „What are your main motivations to represent working children in the Global Child Forum?“- is one of the questions they had to answer in the application process. Among these dedicated applications, Kindernothilfe chose Kesia (17) and Fauza (16) from Indonesia as delegates for the Global Child Forum in Stockholm because of their strong motivation and experience through the Time to Talk- meetings and consultations. Both are part of the group of working children. Keisa works since many years as scavenger und Fauza currently works full-time at a printing factory. Kesia and Fauza will give a speech at the Global Child Forum in which they present their views on a fair and sustainable world for children and emphasize the role of business enterprises. Also they will participate actively in the Action Lab “Speaking up: Young people´s participation in the business decision-making” and discuss with business leaders about children rights and children´s participation. Furthermore Anne Jacob, coordinator of the Time to Talk Project, will present the main results of the Time to Talk! Report. Based on the main results of the campaign, representatives from businesses will discuss their commitment to end child work.

Read here more about the ideas and motivations of the two representatives in their fact sheets.
